The IUPHAR Transparency and Reproducibility Subcommittee (Basic and Translational Section) is promoting an Open Access database, which gives information on free online resources that help to guide good practice in preclinical research, especially in respect of experiments that use animals.
Topics addressed by these resources include: planning experiments (PREPARE); designing experiments (the ‘EDA’); statistical analysis of the data (InVivoStat); reporting the experimental findings (ARRIVE 2.0); 3Rs compliance; and optimizing research animal welfare. Good practice in all these and other aspects of preclinical research will help to improve both reproducibility of research findings and their successful translation.
